Parents as Partners Program
The Bay Shore Middle School Parents as Partners program offers every parent of a Middle School Student the opportunity to meet with their child’s team of teachers on a monthly basis to discuss academic and curriculum issues.
Parents as Partners Goals:
* Improve communication between parents and faculty.
* Increase parental involvement in their child’s educational curriculum.
* Enhance student learning.

Program Coordinators ( The Bay Shore Middle School PFA Executive Board )
* Supervise the Parents as Partners program and serve as a liaison between the program and school administration.
Team Coordinators (Volunteer Parents)
* Contacts other parents (by e-mail) to remind them of upcoming team meetings or advise them of a change in schedule.
* Prepares monthly form for PFA website and for distribution to all students on the team.
* Attends PFA meetings.
Team Parents
*Attends one Parents as Partners team meeting per month with his/her child’s academic team.
* Works with team teachers to provide the opportunity for open communication and participation regarding their child’s education and curriculum.
* Monthly team meetings are open to all parents.
Faculty
* Encourages parental involvement.
* Meets with team parents once per month.
* Be prepared to discuss upcoming curricular issues
* Communicates changes in scheduled meeting date/time to guidance office and team coordinator.
* Prepares team information to be posted on the PFA website if no team parents are able to attend the monthly meeting (discretionary by team).
Additional Information:
Team meetings are held during the school day according to team availability. Please see attached schedule. Many parents who work during the day arrange their schedule to accommodate their child’s team meeting once per month. If submitted to us by parent representatives, we will post the notes for your team monthly on the PFA website for those parents who cannot attend the meetings. (Check your team page under the Parents as Partners tab).
